How to Use Power-Ups Effectively
Most power-up mistakes are spending it at the wrong moment rather than not having it.
Fantasy Arcade
Magic Cat Adventure is the most demanding platformer on the site. The cat has a mid-air magic dash on a cooldown, and several crossings are only possible if you spend it at the right moment. Gems unlock the portal at the end of each stage.

Magic Cat Adventure is the hardest game on Cat Arcade and is built for players who have already finished Jungle Kitty. The core addition is a mid-air dash: a short, fast horizontal burst on a cooldown that lets the cat cross gaps no ordinary jump could reach.
The dash is the whole design. Several crossings in each level are deliberately just beyond jump range, so they can only be solved by jumping and then dashing at the right moment. Dash too early and you lose height before you have the distance; dash too late and you are already falling past the platform. The window is about a third of a second, which is generous once you know it exists and impossible if you do not.
A cooldown meter above the cat shows when the dash is available. Floating power crystals refresh it instantly, and the levels use those crystals as punctuation - a crystal placed mid-flight is the game telling you that this sequence needs two dashes in a row.
Each of the three levels requires a minimum number of gems to open the portal at the end. This is not a collect-everything requirement; the threshold sits below the total available, so you have some freedom about which gems you go after. Disappearing platforms operate on a fixed visible cycle rather than a random one, so they can be learned.
| Device | Controls |
|---|---|
| Desktop | Arrows or A/D to move, Space to jump, Shift or X to dash, P to pause |
| Mobile & tablet | On-screen move, jump and dash buttons |
| Everywhere | Pause with the Pause button or the P key. Restart at any time with the Restart button. |

The reliable moment to dash is the top of your jump, when vertical speed is near zero. Dashing on the way up wastes the height you were still gaining; dashing on the way down means starting the dash from a lower point than you needed to. Jump, wait for the cat to hang, then dash.
Disappearing platforms fade on a fixed timer and the fade is visible for about half a second before they vanish. Stand on solid ground and watch one full cycle. The pattern never changes, so one observation is enough for the whole level.
A crystal floating in open air is not a bonus - it is the level designer telling you that your route passes through that exact point and that you will need a second dash immediately afterwards. If you are reaching a crystal on the ground, you are on the wrong route.
The portal opens at a threshold below the level's total. Once you have enough, the remaining gems are optional. Many failed attempts come from players trying to collect everything on a run where they only needed two-thirds of it.
Because dying returns you to the last checkpoint and there is no life limit, a hard sequence can be attempted repeatedly at almost no cost. Deliberately fail it a few times to learn the timing rather than trying to be careful on every attempt.
About two seconds, shown by the meter above the cat. Power crystals reset it instantly.
Yes, though it is far less useful. The dash is designed for extending jumps.
Each level displays its requirement in the HUD. The threshold is always lower than the number of gems in the level, so there is more than one valid route.
Either the cooldown was still running, or you had already dashed during that airborne period. You get one dash per jump unless you collect a crystal.
It is the hardest game on the site, and it assumes you are comfortable with variable-height jumping. Jungle Kitty is the better starting point, and it teaches the same movement without the dash.
Yes. Unlocked levels and your best gem count per level are stored in your browser.

A power-up does not make a game easier so much as it changes what every gap in it means.
