Why Play Cat Arcade?
There are a great many browser game sites, and most of them are catalogues of somebody else's games. This one is not. Every game here was written for this site in HTML5 Canvas and vanilla JavaScript, which has three consequences worth knowing about.
They load quickly and run on modest hardware
A game drawing a few dozen shapes per frame with no engine, no framework and no downloaded assets starts in a second or two and runs comfortably on a phone that is several years old. There is nothing to install and nothing to wait for.
They are built for short sessions
A run takes between thirty seconds and four minutes. That is deliberate - it is long enough to get properly involved and short enough that stopping is easy. Two of the games have no fail state at all, for the times when being interrupted by losing is not what you want.
We can actually explain how they work
Because we wrote the code, the guides on this site describe real mechanisms rather than guesses: how collision detection actually decides you hit something, why difficulty curves flatten out, what coyote time is doing when a jump you were sure you missed works anyway.
They are accessible on purpose
Every game carries its instructions, controls and current state in real HTML outside the canvas, because a canvas is opaque to screen readers. Games are keyboard playable, respect reduced-motion preferences, and have a sound toggle that is remembered between visits.
What we do not claim is that any of this is good for you. Playing arcade games will not demonstrably improve your memory or your reflexes, and we are not going to pretend otherwise to make the site sound more worthy. These are games. They are meant to be enjoyable for a few minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we get asked most about the games and the site.
What are cat arcade games?
Short, skill-based browser games with a cat as the player character. A round usually lasts one to four minutes, the rules are visible within seconds, and you compete against your own previous score. There is a full explanation in our beginner's guide.
Are Cat Arcade games free?
Yes, all of them, with no account and no payment at any stage. The site is intended to be supported by advertising rather than by charging players.
Can I play cat games on mobile?
Yes. Every game here has touch controls designed for that specific game - a tap, a hold, a drag or large on-screen pads - rather than a generic on-screen gamepad. The canvas scales to your screen width.
Do cat games require downloads?
No. These are web pages. The games are written in HTML5 Canvas and vanilla JavaScript, which every modern browser runs natively. There is no plugin, installer or app.
What types of cat games are available?
Runners, platformers, adventure levels, collection games and puzzle or memory games. Each type tests a genuinely different skill - the guide to game types explains which suits what.
Can I play these games in a browser?
That is the only way to play them. Nothing here is distributed as an app or a download, and the games run entirely inside the page.
How can I improve my high score?
Three changes help most players immediately: look at the edge of the screen where obstacles enter rather than at the cat, press slightly earlier than feels correct, and stop chasing collectibles that force a risky jump. The full guide goes much further.
Are my scores saved?
Yes, in your own browser using localStorage. They stay on your device, are never sent anywhere, and are removed if you clear your browsing data.
